Johor Bahru, 22 November 2024 – The vibrant streets of Johor Bahru came alive with the Johor Run x JB Neon Run X JB Tower Run, marking the 30th Anniversary of Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru (MBJB).
Starting at Dataran Bandaraya Johor Bahru, the event featured three categories: 5KM and 10KM JB Neon Runs, and a 21KM Half Marathon. Organized by MBJB, Majlis Sukan Negeri Johor (MSNJ), and KPRJ Sports Sdn Bhd (KSSB), it attracted nearly 2,000 runners from 10 countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, and Kenya.
The flag-off ceremony was officiated by Yang Berhormat Tuan Mohd Hairi bin Md Shah, Chairman of the Johor State Youth, Sports, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Committee, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Haji Mohd Noorazam bin Dato’ Haji Osman, Mayor of Johor Bahru, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Haji Onn bin Jabbar@Jaafar, Deputy State Secretary (Sports, Youth and Volunteers), Yang Berbahagia Tuan Haji Ahmad Nazir bin Haji Mohd Nasir, Johor Bahru District Officer, Yang Berbahagia Tuan Ts. Mohd Ekmaluddin bin Dato’ Ishak, Director of Johor State Sports Council, and Yang Berbahagia Encik Zainal Abidin bin Zakaria, Chief Operating Officer of KPRJ. Supported by strategic partners such as the Johor State Government, Decathlon, and Thistle Hotel, participants enjoyed an electrifying atmosphere filled with neon lights and music.
Runners and spectators also participated in other activities, including aerobic sessions, booths, and lucky draws, creating a festive celebration for all. The excitement continued with the JB Tower Run on 23 November, where participants conquered 15 levels of Menara MBJB.
This extraordinary event not only showcased Johor Bahru’s community spirit but also placed the city on the global map.
